Citizen Engineer
Past Winners 1955 - 2008

Each year the Northeast Indiana Engineering Week Committee chooses an individual for the Citizen Engineer award. This is a prestigious award. It is presented at the Engineer Week Banquet. The recipient receives commendation from all in attendance, a plaque describing this award, a framed photograph, and a $ award. The following criteria is used for selecting the Citizen Engineer.

Consider active participation and leadership in:
A. Service club activities: e.g., Rotoary, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimists, Exchange, etc.

B. Yourth organisations: e.g., Scouts, Cub Scouts, Indian Guides, YMCA, Junior Achievements, etc.

C. School activities: e.g., vocational guidance work, Science Fair, Parent Teacher Association, etc.

D. Community service work: e.g., United Way, Red Cross, March of Dimes, etc.

E. Church work: e.g., teching, committee activities, choir, offices held, etc.

F. Engineering organizations, local and national - Type of participation, officies held, committee activities, etc.

G. Other activities for the betterment of the community - District civic organizations, C of C, Safety Council, City Traffic Council, Civil Defense, etc.

Note: Not eligible for nomination are those who:

A. Are engaged in the community work by nature of the jobs (e.g., employee and community relations personnel) or who hold positions in the community organizations for which the receive remuneration.

B. Have already received formal awards from other committees or organizations during the past five years.

The selected engineer need not be a member of the society nominating him. The nomination committee should list in its letter the nomination all the activities and accomplishments of its nominee as completely as possible. Remember that this list is all the selection committee has in making its selection.
